Full-Time Manufacturing Engineer

Job Description

A fully operational production line meets capacity, quality, delivery, cost & system targets set by the customer & CTG.

Working as part of a multi-disciplined project team you will help and manage part of the ‘production process & product validation’ phase of the NPI process in addition to working on all current programmes and implement cost improvement where necessary.

Role Summary

• Where production issues are identified typically due to high scrap levels or capacity constraints monitor measure and review the process and present data to support and drive improvement activities.
• Produce process validation plans and carry out and manage the delivery of the work.
• To support in the introduction and commissioning of any new/replacement/additional manufacturing equipment/machines that may be required.
• Use the Engineering Change control process in support of improvement activities to ensure full traceability for decision making and changes to product and process specifications.
• To clearly communicate actions and progress of engineering tasks in hand.
• Once the production processes are developed, support production managers and team leaders with the planning and implementation of a structured training procedure for the production operatives.
• Produce detailed capacity plans for each product ensuring that the necessary equipment is sourced & the layout is in line with lean manufacturing principles & delivers the required output at the required cost. Produce detailed Capital Expenditure plans where necessary.
• Working with design & Engineering ensure that all tooling & equipment requirements have been identified and are sourced, delivered & commissioned in line with the project timing.
• Working in conjunction with Engineering & Production produce detailed work instructions for the all production processes and then training the production operatives against the SOP’s and CTG’s skills matrix requirements.
• Working with Engineering, Production & Quality ensure that all the necessary gauging/measuring equipment are in place & capable.
• Produce when necessary Tooling and fixture drawings.
• Support Production & Continuous Improvement with current production issues as required.
• Other duties as specified by the Manufacturing Engineering Manager.

Basic Qualifications:

Typical Education and Experience

• Degree qualified with minimum 2:1 BEng or MEng in a Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering Discipline from recognised leading engineering university with industrial experience in a manufacturing/quality/production engineering role or extensive project based
design and practical experience, such as major role in a Formula Student team responsible for major section the car design, development and manufacture with a strong drive to work in a manufacturing support environment.

• Alternative engineering education routes such as apprentice trained + HND or similar combined with engineering experience in a quality/manufacturing/production engineering role with a strong mechanical engineering and problem solving skill set.
Experience using typical manufacturing tools for problem solving and process assessment such as engineering change control, capability studies, project planning, Gauge R+R studies, report writing and process/product verification
