Full-Time Machinist

Job Description

The CNC Setter/Operator is responsible for completing the ‘Production Orders’ as quickly and cost effectively as possible.

The work includes all machining operations, machine programming, machine set-up, material preparation etc.

This job requires a versatile person, who is able to communicate in a professional manner to his fellow work colleagues and be able to work in a team working environment.

1. Safe approach to tasks.
2. Able to Programme, Set and Operate the following machines safely and in a timely manner;

• CNC lathes, (Fanuc, Heidenhain, and Mazatrol Controls).
• CNC milling machines, (Heidenhain, Mazatrol Controls).
• Operate Manual Lathes and Milling machines.
• Use associated measuring systems.
• Have the ability to work to production deadlines.

Other skills required;

3. Able to independently design engineering jigs and fixture to enhance productivity.
4. Able to perform basic maintenance tasks.
5. Able to assist the maintenance staff in maintenance tasks.
6. Able to write and read CNC programs, including Heidenhain, Mazatrol and Fanuc CNC machine programs.
7. Able to work in accordance to the companies’ safety policy.
8. Able to work report back to the production manager in relation to equipment, works order or facility problems.
9. Responsible for the completion of the Production order documentation.
10. Role requires self-motivation and initiative, as well as being able to motivate others in a professional manner.
11. Ability & desire to learn. Basic Qualifications:

Personal Characteristics:

1. Ability to work efficiently and effectively so that production throughput is maximised (measured by delivery against agreed date on the production schedules)
2. Adherence to required quality procedures (measured by non-conformance reports from the Quality Team)
3. Maintenance of good housekeeping and cleanliness in work area (as defined by the operating work instructions for the facility.
4. Good communication skills
5. Evidence of practical dexterity
6. Ability to work to standards and specific instructions
7. Ability to identify and to question sub-standard process/product
8. PC Literate.
9. Able to use SAP
10. Problem solving techniques and ability to work on own initiative. (Logical and systematic approach)
11. Flexibility and willing to learn new skills
12. Ability to understand and to follow the process from beginning to end
